Federal Minister for Information and Technology, Syed Aminul Haque, has said that everyone should wait for the court to decide the fate of the popular mobile game, PlayerUnknonwn’s Battlegrounds.

Talking to journalists, the MQM lawmaker said that his ministry has no administrative control over Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The internet regulator banned the game temporarily on 1st July due to complaints from parents and other segments of the society.

Earlier, the court had referred the matter to PTA, saying the regulatory authority will take the final decision on the PUBG ban.

The minister had earlier voiced his support, saying he was against the ban because it hampers the growth of the industry. He, however, said that PTA falls under the Cabinet Division and only relevant people can answer whether the game will be unbanned or not.

PTA banned the game after parents moved Lahore High Court after two children committed suicide when they were denied permission to play their favorite game.

It remains to be seen whether the regulatory authority permanently bans the game or not. PTA spokesperson had earlier said that the decision will be taken after consultations.

The move to ban the game has angered the youth who are demanding the government to unban PUBG as a number of people are earning their livelihood through the game.
