LG’s Innotek department is known for manufacturing innovative components for a ‘Safe, Convenient, and Enjoyable Future’. Staying true to its purpose, the department has launched yet another innovative product dubbed the Bluetooth low energy (BLE) module for IoT.
This device is not one of its kind, but what sets it apart from the rest is its extremely small size. The BLE measures only 6mm x 4mm, which is 25 percent smaller than its predecessor. Contrary to popular belief, the small size is not accompanied by lower performance. LG was not only able to radically reduce the size, but also with a 30 percent increase in performance over existing products.
The technology behind this performance optimization is LG’s differentiated RF signal design tech, thanks to which the company was able to squeeze in over 20 components inside the confined space. These components include communication chips, resistors, inductors, and more.
According to the company, this revolutionary design will aid the elimination of signal interference regardless of obstacles between a smartphone and the IoT device. In addition to this, since the BLE uses low-power technology, it provides more room for creativity on the part of developers and manufacturers.
LG has not detailed whether the component is in the mass production phase or not.
