Swedes take sustainability very seriously and they have yet again proven their highest sustainability ranking by launching a first-of-its-kind recycled card-reader made out of ocean waste. They called it ‘Ocean Reader’. All thanks to iZettle for bringing into the market this game changer which is 75% just fishing ropes and nets found in the North and Baltic Seas.

Jacob de Geer, co-founder of iZettle says,

When it comes to things like sustainability, we have a responsibility to do all we can. I’m proud that iZettle is launching the world’s first card reader made of recycled ocean plastics, but at the same time, it’s a failure of the entire industry that this is only happening now, in 2019. We all have to do better.

With over 125 million card readers in the world, and an expected 6% increase every year, iZettle is dead set on launching all new products made out of recycled material by 2021.

‘Ocean Reader’ comes with a charging dock as well made from recycled ocean waste. 20% of the sale of each set will directly fund organizations working to rid the world’s oceans of plastic pollution. Whats better than that!

Sweden is a top performer when it comes to recycling and harnessing renewable resources. Another such example was set by CPI Card Group earlier this year when it came up with a payments card, Second Wave, with a recycled ocean-plastic core.
